The Prayer Of A Broken Heart
Posted On 03/21/2008 18:48:44 by Revelation91

Jeremiah 9:1 Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

Jermiah 9:2 Oh that I had, in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from, them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.

Jermiah 9:3 And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil, to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD.

Even though that God spoke through him on this, Jeremiah had to come to a place where he could yield himself this much to God. To be able to come this passionate for souls, for this burden he had doing God's will, God used Jeremiah in a such a explosive way were when you read this book, you can feel the very passion coming out of these pages.

Jeremiah is so popular known as the "weeping prophet". Because of his burden for the people at Judah, he did accomplish an awesome prayer life with God. But the interesting part to this story is that he did not have the Holy Ghost. Where did this passion come from? Well, by continuing his life, he found passion during prayer. He found himself unworthy to speak what God was talking to him about.

We often fell this way with everything that we do. We have no need to feel this way in God's eyes. Jeremiah was counted unworthy because he was a child (in his eyes). But God told him other wise. God inserts this "and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak." I think the key word in this is, "command". How many times have we just set back and watched the fireworks and did nothing about it?

I do not think that we in some cases can change the word "speak" to: "do", "act"...etc. Without it being a problem. God wants us to be followers of him. "Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead." (Matthew 8:22.) "Follow, me, and I will make you fishers of men." (Matthew 4:19.) The words "follow me" is mention 21 times in the new testament. If God did not want you, I doubt that He would have not said "follow me" has many times as He did.

But we need to come to a place where we know that we are unworthy OF the BLESSINGS of God. But whatever God wants of us, we should welcome the fact that He counts us worthy of the duty. And not being somewhere crying over who did what, or being somewhere thinking that your the best thing and God can use you for anything.

Knowing that He counts us worthy is good enough. We do not need the idea that we can do anything we want to do because of the fact. God will not use ANYBODY unless they are BROKEN. He will need that avenue in you're life to accomplish what He wants to do. To be able to be a potter you need to focus on making the vessel's. (symbolic to us.) You also need to be ready for bumps and cracks. (symbolic to what sin will do to us.) And you need to be ready to throw out what WILL REFUSE TO BE WORKED ON! (symbolic to HELL) Are we just going to waste our lives on these pitiful things of this world?

I don't think so. God is the potter and He yearns to mold us into what He wants us to become! Are we so selfish that we refuse His hand? Are we that ignorant? That we want ourselves to go to hell, and to burn and let others we could have impacted burn? Jeremiah wept for these people for a long time, day and night. His passion has left a mark on/in these pages in the Bible.

His love towards these people was from God Himself. This is called "praying for passion". Do I know that he prayed that? I don't know. All I know is that there are countless people dying in this generation and they need to be reached by a prayer warrior, by a person that is willing to give themselves to God.

But, be prepared. When you pray for a broken and contrite heart, for passion, for faith, for compassion towards God. HE WILL BRAKE YOU. countless times we pray that and we question later why we are feeling the way we do. Our flesh does not like to show this type of "surrender" to a higher power. So we brush the answered prayer off our back.

Then we get in the mood again for a good cry then what happens? We are trying now to "give it all to Him". It is very important to just keep crying, no matter if your flesh does not like it. We can not give place to the devil (Ephesians 4:27). Being broken is a feeling that can not be described. It feels your heart with passion for these "people" wherever you are at. It gives you a sense of being humble. (Or to the best ability I know). I am by far not the most humble person in the world, but the best thing we can do is try and stay on this road that we are going by.

I am leaving you with this. What is it going to be like when we get to Heaven knowing that there was some people we could have reached and did not? We will find so much grief in our hearts at that time ( If we had a chance to mourn over the lost.) I am here to tell you that, you have that chance. Nothing should hinder us from God! It is powerful when people can just cry there hearts out to God! whether it be in repentance, or prayer.

Let us serve God with all our hearts, minds, and spirits. "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us. Ephesians 2:4" There is coming a day that God's love will stop for a brief moment to get the faithful in Christ, and rain judgement upon those who are not Christ's, and He IS coming BACK for HIS PEOPLE!

And the question is this. Can we seriously go to Heaven and know that we did within our selves, to pray for those people, to strive and hunger after those people, and to have passion to save those people that Jesus had for us, with a clean conscience?
