When An Attraction Becomes An Addiction!

Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Ezekiel 28:17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

This is how Satan fell! He saw that God was KING and LORD of everything. And he wanted that. And he fell because of pride and rebellion. These are the two things that can literally kill you, in your walk with God.

We can see rebellion in his life but, where is the pride? In verse 17 of Ezekiel chapter 28, you see that God not only clothed Him in all these amazing stones (Ezekiel 28:13), God also calls him perfect (Ezekiel 28:15). So, he thought: “Hey, I am perfect and better then all the other angels, so I think I am also better then God and I will place myself above him!” That is a summery of chapter 14 in Isaiah.

How can someone with that title want to do something that will mess everything up? Power and authority drives a hunger in people, or in this case, a fallen angel. Now we know that he fell because of these two murderous sins, these are the two that we today, Christian or not Christian, have a problem with. He got that one taste of being the (to his mind) the important one, that he became a blundering idiot.

He became attracted to the thought of being the one with all these jewels and being called the “son of the morning”. Behold the taste of pride crept into him. And rebellion followed that pride to the very gates of hell. Oh how this world is giving in to pride and rebellion. I have seen so many people that let rebellion into there hearts and minds.

I know we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God, even the Bible tells us that, in Romans 3:23. But it is important that we do not let the devil get a hold of our minds! The things he is going to attack our minds with are rebellion and pride.

Look what he did to Eve. He told her a lie and she gave in and ate the fruit of the tree (Genesis 3:5 the lie, Genesis 3:6 the act of rebellion). They have tasted the fruit and now, even until this day we have to listen to the lies of the devil and walk with this ever moving act of sin in our lives. But, there is a cure from a lot of this sinning that goes on, and that is the Holy Ghost. I have scripture to back this up but, I would that you read it for yourselves.

Anyway back on subject. The devil even used pride to bring people down. He used pride against Belshazzar, the son of Nebuchadnezzar. The Bible says in Daniel 5:22, that Belshazzar did not humble himself, and therefore cost him his kingdom. Let me tell you something, if we do not humble ourselves then we can lose our place in the Kingdom of God!

We need to stay on our knees in prayer, and keeping a humble spirit about us. Prayer is so important in our walk with God. This is my opinion; prayer is the only thing that can keep us walking with God! I need to stay praying or I can let all this garbage from the world corrupt my heart and life. If we stop working then we make this big path way for the devil to come in and literally destroy our minds.

What ever happened to “the laborer is worthy of his reward?”, “and let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not?” 1st Timothy 5:18, and Galatians 6:9. Are we now falling not only as rebellious and prideful Christians, but as lazy ones too? People have to twist our arms to go to Saturday-night prayer; there are prayer warriors among us. We need to brake free from these chains that are holding us.

We are everyday put in a situation of up coming sin, in every one of our lives. But, it is up to us not to give in to this temptation. If you are attracted to a certain sin in your life then chances are that sin is going to own you for the rest of your life. It is a scary thought, and if you do not believe me then read for yourself the meaning of the word “attracted”. You can see the almost perfect harmony between the two.

Attracted/Attraction. Allure, entice, appeal to, captivate, drawing power, pull, and temptation. Just to name a few meanings of the word Atrraction/Atrracted. Now here is something that caught my eye look at this.

Addiction - Obsession and enslavement. Wow, enslavement, and obsession. The thing that caught my eye was the word “enslavement”. Why you ask? Well, think of it this way, you taste sin and you are hooked, if you are hooked then you are a prisoner of the devil. And the Bible does tell us we can not serve two masters (Matthew 6:24), so we are in some trouble now uh?

STAY AWAY FROM THAT! We hear these famous words in our life, either from our parents, or any other figure of authority. We need to open up our ears to God when he is talking. We say we do our best to stay away from sin but, in reality, we run to it. If not coming clean we blame it on some one else. “I got my porn addiction from my dad”.

No you got it going to places you should not on the computer! Were has common sense gone these days? We use that same excuse for everything. We have to use our brains (if we have any), and say hey, if I do this then I will open a wrong door in my life.

But, that’s what makes prayer more important in our life. It keeps us away from those things. What did Jesus tell the disciples in Matthew 26:41? (Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.) What does that tell me? I need to pray a whole lot! We can fall fast in this world now. We need to stay in a constant prayer mode. Even though my flesh is weak, I will pray.

This world is plundering into N/A fast! Oprah now has this church thing, and it looks like she thought God was Jealous of her. We won’t go there but, do you not see now that these are false teachers? And they are sowing discord among the brethren? How long will we listen to all this none since, we can not even read the Bible for ourselves these days.

It is time to stand up for Christianity, the way it should be. It is time to resist this attraction for the world before it becomes an addiction, and focus on the will God! And we can do this by obeying Ephesians 6:13-18. And now I leave you with this. There will be times that you are put in a dark place and everything around changes, but remember there is something that will not change. And that is the name and power of Jesus. Remember, Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8.

Thank you for reading this. May God Bless You!
