“If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

There is a problem in several areas in the church. How do you explain things like abortion, evolution, homosexuality, racism, ect? The enemy is attacking the church very seriously. Why is it that when a Christian tries to stand up for himself he backs down when the various subjects above are brought up or when someone else says science proves the Bible wrong? What is he supposed to do? Is Genesis unimportant like most people say? Why don’t people listen when we try to teach them the truth in Acts 2:38? How do you tell if something is humanistic or not? How do we as Christians prove that there is a God to an Atheist? The truth is our Biblical foundation has been destroyed. What you are about to read should help you rebuild your foundation. I’m going to concentrate on one issue at a time and show you the big picture behind it all.
1. Authority of the Bible
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”
John 1:1
We as Christians need to believe the Bible with all of our heart because without God’s Word the enemy will tear down our foundation. Satan himself tried to tempt Jesus Christ in the wilderness and He countered everything the devil said with scripture (Matt. 4:1-11). He demonstrated God’s authority, the authority of the Word. We need to be taught how to do this as well. This is why it is important to study the Bible daily. We can’t let the common things we encounter during the day to distract us. The Bible says in John chapter 1 that God is the Word. The Bible is God’s rulebook in other words, His instructions. It is the way to heaven, it tells our origin, it tells the history of the world.
In Genesis chapter 1 we read that God created all things in six days. We must believe this or our entire view of the Bible is distorted. If God’s Word says that He “created” everything in six days then He created everything in six days. Each day does not stand for a thousand years, or a million years. It stands for one twenty-four hour time period. After all Jonah wasn’t in the belly of the whale for three thousand years. That’s preposterous. The Israelites didn’t march around Jericho for seven thousand years. If they did it’s know wonder the walls fell down. Jesus wasn’t in the tomb for three thousand years. If He was how were His disciples able to see Him before He ascended into heaven? We have to believe everything the Bible says or we begin to see it from a humanistic viewpoint and our foundation is destroyed.
Jesus said that the only way to heaven was to be born again of water and spirit (John 3:5). We have to repent of all sins, be baptized in Jesus name, and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost in order to get to heaven (Acts 2:38). If God’s Word says that this is what we must do then this is what we must do. It’s in His Word.
2. Establishing a Biblical Foundation
“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:”
Matthew 7:24
In order to establish a foundation we need to know where our foundation comes from. Our foundation is what the enemy has been attacking longer than anything else. The book of Genesis. Satan envelopes Youth today continually with the teachings of evolution to attempt to cause the Youth of today to view things through worldly eyes. It’s in the media, the schools, the newspaper, and even in the church. There are churches today who attempt to marry evolution with the Bible. If Genesis cannot be trusted then no part of the Bible can be trusted. Evolution says that things evolved over millions of years by some accident. The Bible however says that God created all things in six days. He created matter, light, plants, animals, and people. The people failed what they were supposed to do and the ‘Fall of Man’ occurred. The result was death. Man had cursed himself for his mistake.
If we were part of some accident that took millions of years you will find several flaws. For example, we have already established that the Bible is God’s authority and is infallible. If evolution were true, if God used it in other words, you would have to accept the fossil record having taken thousands of years and you would’ve had all of these things dying before the ‘Fall’ which was a result of sin. There was no death before the ‘Fall’. Also, you would have to accept that we came from apes, not dust. The Bible says that we were made from the dust of the earth (Gen. 2:7). If dust was God’s description of apes, when we died we would turn back onto apes, not dust (Gen. 3:19).
3. Creation vs. Evolution
“God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is LORD of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;”
Acts 17:24
I think that we first need to understand what science truly is. Evolution and creationism are not science. Science is something that can be experimented with and proven. For example, we can prove that gravity exists. We can observe it over and over again. Creationism and evolution cannot be observed and as far as we know cannot be proven through scientific experiments. In a book called The Nature of Science it states on page 27 “Believe it or not, many scientists search for truth of nature without ever performing experiments.” The book later says “much of what we know about evolution is based on Darwin’s work. Yet Darwin did not perform a single experiment!” As you can see, evolution is a religion because it is based on beliefs just like creationism. But when we perform experiments to attempt to prove evolution we find that there are several factors leading us to believe in a young earth, which leaves us with the only option of believing that there must be an all-powerful God that made everything in six days. Not millions of years. All evolutionists agree that without eons of time evolution doesn’t stand a chance. Just go and ask one. However if you study different population growth statistics, you’ll find that if man had been here millions of years, we would all be crushed. Millions of people would be standing on top of each other. Yet, evolutionists continue to make statements in books such as The Origins of Life that say “However improbable we regard the origin of life, given enough time, it will almost certainly happen at least once…the impossible becomes possible, the possible becomes probable; and the probable becomes certain. One only has to wait, time itself performs the miracle. Given enough time, things can evolve from the simple to the complex. Even though we cannot observe the process, even though we cannot demonstrate it, even though we cannot prove or verify it, what we need is time.” This can be observed however. It does not take millions of years though. We can observe a child starting out as a single cell in a mother’s womb and growing into a complex adult in only about 20 years.
As we have seen, Genesis is our foundation. So let’s find out what evolution’s foundation is and point out the fallibilities. I’ve already pointed out that “eons of time” is one of evolutions foundations. I’m going to make one more example of this and then move on. Evolutionists say that it takes 1,000 of years to form only 1 inch of coal. If this were so we would not find marine fossils in coal like we do today. But how does coal form? Temperature is important in coal metamorphosis. Woody and other cellulosic materials have been converted to coal in a very short time in experiments performed by Dr. George R. Hill of the College of Mines and Mineral Industries of the University of Utah. In these experiments, the material was heated under high confining pressures and the properties were similar to anthracite and low volatile bituminous coals. Noah’s Flood could have transported and suddenly buried large amounts of vegetable material required for the formation of coal seams found in the earth today. The combination of burial and friction resulting from flooding and earth movements would have generated sufficiently high temperatures and pressures to convert this vegetable material into coal in a short time period.
The next foundation of evolution is chance. If you do the math however, you’ll find that evolution occurring by chance is virtually impossible. It has been estimated that the mathematical probability of the atoms of the simplest replicating protein molecule coming together on order by chance is 1 in a number with 450 zeroes on the end of it. A book called Creation Versus Evolution, Scientific and Religious Considerations, Arlo Moehlenpah states on page 55 after giving an in-depth study of the possibility of life occurring by chance says “… the probability of life occurring by chance is zero.” He goes on to say “A living cell is even far more complicated than the simplest protein molecule. The chance of a single living cell spontaneously forming is 1 in a number with 40,000 zeros on the end of it.” As you can see, you would have a better chance of a baby building a super computer than life occurring by accident. Because if even a billion babies couldn’t build a super computer in a millions years by accident, how could life have formed by accident?
4. World-wide Flood vs. Localized Flood
“Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.”
Genesis 7:20
As we begin this subject I want to point out to you the four views of Noah’s Flood. The first view is the Historical Global Catastrophe. All three of these words are important. The Flood was “Historical”-it happened in time-space history, it was “Global”-it covered the whole earth, and it was a “Catastrophe”-it was a flood of catastrophic proportions. The second view is the Historical Local Catastrophe. Again it was “Historical”-it happened in time-space history, but it was “Localized” in the Mesopotamian Valley-modern day Iraq, and was only “Catastrophic” to that area. The third view is the Historical Global Tranquil Flood. We can rule this view out immediately because there is no such thing as a tranquil flood. A tranquil flood is a flood that leaves no geological change, but all floods are destructive. All floods erode and carry sediments from one place to another. The final view is that the Flood is a “Myth”.
What I’m going to do now is show you a few of the Biblical reasons we know that it was a global catastrophe. Let’s first examine the purpose of the Flood. The purpose of the Flood was not to destroy sinful man. The purpose of the Flood was to destroy sinful man and all the animals and the earth itself (Gen. 6:7, 13). Only a global flood would fulfill that purpose. A localized flood would not get all the animals. The animals in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and North and South America could care less if there’s a flood in the Middle East. Also look at the purpose of the ark. The ark was to save Noah, his family and all the animals (Gen. 7:1-3). If the flood was local God could have just told Noah to take a long vacation to Europe. And as for the animals, even if the flood killed all the animals in the Mesopotamian Valley, other animals would just migrate back in.
The Bible says that “all” the high mountains were covered (Gen. 7:19-20). If the Flood was only in the Mesopotamian Valley we would have to picture a wall of water being held in place by the hand of God. But the Bible doesn’t speak of such a thing happening. Nor will you find any evidence from the people of that day seeing a huge wall of water being held in place. If local flood was there in the Mesopotamian Valley for over a year someone would have noticed it and documented it.
Last of all we must consider the rainbow promise. The Bible tells us in Genesis 9 that the rainbow is God’s promise to never destroy the world with a flood. If the Flood was local God lied. If one believes in a local flood you must deny the affects hurricane Katrina had on New Orleans. Only a Global Flood fits the rainbow promise.
5. Kinds vs. Species
11 “And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, and the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so”, 21 “And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”, 24 “And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.”

The word “kind” doesn’t mean species. Most people don’t know the meaning of this word. Creationist scientists have only recently discovered the true meaning. The process that I’m about to explain to you is called Rapid Speciation. This God given process amazes biologists. Breeders have known that domesticated plants and animals possess a huge reserve of information that is able to produce a stunning variety of shapes and functions. Most modern dogs for example, came from just a handful of breeds in the 1600s. And these dogs have a wide range of features that suit them for a wide variety of environments, from sledding at the poles to hunting in the desert. And none of that variety was put there by humans. The information was already built into the dogs. Such variety of information can be found in many other domesticated animals and plants. If all the non-domesticated animals on the Ark had this same wealth of information then we could understand how a single pair of cats could produce all known cats. Today cross breeding between domestic cats and wild cats, between cougars and leopards, between lions and tigers indicate that all modern cat species are the same created “kind”. The original cat “kind” carried all the information to produce the variety of cats we see today. But where did this information come from in the first place? The Bible says that God created all animal and plant “kinds” in the beginning (Gen. 1). And we’re now learning that God placed a huge amount of information in each created “kind”, allowing them to diversify into the myriad of plants and animals we see today. The information was all there right from the start. This is not evolution from a lower form of life. Evolution says that things are becoming more and more advanced and complex. But with Rapid Speciation the animal is loosing information, not gaining it. Rapid Speciation is creation from an all knowing, infinitely wise Creator.
6. Could Noah get all the Animals on the Ark?
“Of every clean beast thou shalt take thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.”
Genesis 7:2
Have you ever heard this question asked? Most Christians don’t know what to say. I’m about to answer this question along with a few others for you. The first thing I want you to do is erase from your mind the little arks you see in children’s books with the giraffe heads sticking out the top and so on. When considering the dimensions given in Genesis 6 we find that the volume of the ark was the equivalent of 560 railroad stock cars. Many people will scoff and say, “There’s no way you can get all the animals on the ark.” When they do this it just shows that they’ve never done the simple mathematics. So let’s just see if the ark really was ridiculous or not.
First of all, Noah was told to take 2 of each “kind” and 7 of each clean animal “kind” (Gen. 6:19-20). As I’ve pointed already pointed out “kind” does not mean species. It has a much broader description. Therefore when Noah took the dog “kind”, Noah didn’t have to bring 2 poodles, 2 greyhounds, 2 German shepherds, ect. He most likely took 2 wolves because they had all of the genetic information. We however are going to make it as hard as we can for Noah. We’re going to say he had to take two of every species. Let’s find out how many species there are. There are 3,700 species of mammals (not all of them went on the ark however because whales and dolphins for example live in water so they wouldn’t go on the ark for obvious reasons), 8,600 species of birds, 6,300 species of reptiles (this includes dinosaurs), and 2,500 species of amphibians. The rest of the species-Fishes, Tunicates, Echinoderms, Arthropods, Mollusks, Worms, Coelenterates, Sponges, and Protozoans-live in water or could survive on floating vegetation, in egg form, ect. and therefore wouldn’t go on the ark. So with two of each species we would only take about 42,200 plus we’ll throw in 7,800 clean animals, that is probably way more than Noah needed. But since we’re making it as hard as we can for Noah we’re throwing in about 50,000 animals. Remember we’re working with species not “kinds”. Could the ark hold 50,000 animals? One thing we need to remember is that the average size of an animal is about the size of a sheep. Yes there are a few quite large animals like elephants, but there are also several small animals like lizards, skunks, and so on. Another thing is that Noah wouldn’t take adult animals on the ark. He would take teenagers. The purpose of the ark was to preserve life. Noah wouldn’t take grandma and grandpa elephant on the ark because they would be sexually inactive and wouldn’t be able to produce young. Let’s get back to finding out if these animals could fit on the ark. A railroad stock car can hold the equivalent of 240 sheep. So we have 50,000 animals at 240 per car. That is equal to 208 stock cars. Which is only 36% of the arks capacity, leaving plenty of room for the plant material that God had Noah and his family take aboard as food. But people still say, “Wait, there is no way Noah was able to get those dinosaurs on the ark.” There are many factors to consider here as well. First of all, many dinosaurs were smaller, even at their full size, than a sheep. And then there’s the fact that all dinosaurs started out small. The largest dinosaur egg ever found was about the size of a football. Also you have to realize that almost every new fossil find gets a new species name. Scientists have “discovered” over 1,000 species of dinosaurs, but creation scientists believe that there were most likely only about 50 dinosaur “kinds”. So as you can see, the ark was able to hold all the animals.
7. World-wide Disaster vs. Millions of Years of Erosion
“They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.”
Psalm 104:8
I’m going to explain to you three views of earth history. The first is the Biblical View. The Biblical View says that there was a Supernatural Creation Week where God created everything in six days. Later there was a World-wide Flood which destroyed all life on the earth save what life was on the Ark. We then come to present day, where all of this took about 6,000 years. And we have a Supernatural Ending. The second view is the Catastrophist View. This view says that there was a Supernatural Beginning that could have been caused by evolution, but there was more than one catastrophe. They believe that every few million years a huge catastrophic event would occur wiping out most life on the earth. We then come to present day, where all of this has been going on for millions of years and will continue this way. The third and final view is the Uniformitarian View. This view doesn’t really explain a beginning. They may believe in a Supernatural Beginning most likely caused by evolution. Some believe that there never was a beginning. This view however does not believe in any catastrophic events. They believe that there was a flood here and there, an earthquake, and so on. They believe in millions of years up to the Present. These three views have a lot to do with what I’m getting ready to talk about.
An evolutionary geologist named Dr. Derek Ager said in one of his books “My excuse for this lengthy and amateur digression into history is that I have been trying to show how I think geology got into the hands of the theoreticians (he’s talking about the Uniformitarians) who were “conditioned by the social and political history of their day” more than by observations in the field…” What he’s saying is “the Uniformitarians were controlled by the political and social ideas of their day more than by what the rocks said”. He goes on to say “In other words (remember this is an evolutionist), we have allowed ourselves to be “brain-washed” into avoiding any interpretation of the past that involves extreme and what might be termed catastrophic processes.” What he’s saying is we have been trained to think (by schools) like a Uniformitarian. Let me demonstrate to you. Let’s say I drew you a picture of a smiley face. The smiley face is a circle with two dots for eyes and a curve for a mouth. What is that face missing? Is it missing a nose, hair, a tattoo, or eyebrows? Are you wondering what the answer is? The answer is “nothing” is missing from that picture. It was drawn that way. I brain-washed you into thinking that something was missing by asking you a simple question. I caused you to think that something was missing. A few evolutionist scientists are realizing this and are going back to the Catastrophist view. They are now looking at the rock layers, study them, and say that they must have been laid down catastrophically. So where do they put the millions of years? They put them in-between the layers where there is “no evidence”. But if you look at them carefully you’ll realize that the evidence shows that each layer was laid down rapidly in rapid succession.
Now that we have the rock layers out of the way let’s move on to what’s in the rock layers. A book on fossils called 101 Questions about Dinosaurs by Philip J. Currie and Eva B. Koppelhus (both are evolutionists) makes the statement “Fossilization is a process that can take anything from a few hours to millions of years….” Now stop and think about that. When you read something an evolutionist says, you need to go back and read it again more slowly. How do they know fossilization can take millions of years? They don’t. It’s an assumption. No scientist has lived long enough to observe something like that happen. And since the study of geology hasn’t been around for more than 200 years you can’t string along different records or notebooks of different geologists and have them truthfully say that they have observed that it can take millions of years for a fossil to form. So how can they know it can only take a few hours? The two scientists go on to say “…the amount of time that it takes for a bone to become completely permineralized is highly variable. If the groundwater is heavily laden with minerals in solution, the process can happen rapidly. Modern bones that fall into mineral springs can become permineralized within a matter of weeks.” In Noah’s Flood we would have had water heavily laden with minerals. We find evidence of this in fossil graveyards found in the Karroo Formation in Africa, in the city of Florissant, Colorado, and in Agate Springs, Nebraska. This is not where these animals lived. It is where they were buried after the floodwaters moved them there.
Now that we know how long it takes for fossils to form let’s look at how long it takes for rocks to form. An article called “Magic in the Marsh” said, “Without any regard to the laws of geology, mud on the marsh is hardening into stone in a few years rather than the thousands it usually takes….” Again we come to a place where we need to stop and read again more slowly. How do they know it takes thousands of years for a rock to form? They don’t. It’s another assumption. And now reality is disproving the assumption. The article goes on to say “Professor Coleman (the lead researcher on this project) said that the rock was forming faster than anyone believed possible (you see what the problem was, it was beliefs), with one stone creating itself in just six months…. They often contained beautifully preserved fossils, where the detail of the soft flesh of the creature is caught as well as the bone, as it had no time to rot before the rock formed around it.” As you can see, it doesn’t take millions of years to make a rock. All it takes is the right chemicals in the water. In this case, bacteria in the water were excreting waste products which provided the cementing agents necessary to produce the stone.
Now we come to erosion. The last and most important evidence of a world-wide flood I have to talk about. One example I have is the Scablands in Eastern Washington. The Scablands cover an area of 15,000 sq. miles. For the past several decades if you would’ve checked the literature or talked to a national park ranger who worked there, they would’ve said that the Scablands formed over millions of years of stream erosion. However if you look the information up on the internet today, you’ll find that they were carved by floodwaters in 1 to 2 days. When this was first believed by a geologist named Bretz. When he examined the rocks carefully he believed that the evidence showed catastrophe. When he finally came up with an excuse as to where the water came from his theory was rejected. A man named Stephen Jay Gould argued for Bretz in a debate and said, “The ‘establishment’ as represented by the United States Geological Society, closed ranks on opposition.… Instead of testing Bretz flood on its own merits, they rejected it on general principles…” You see what happened? They didn’t go out and look at the rocks for themselves to see what Bretz was seeing. They rejected it on general principles (Uniformitarian assumptions). Gould goes on to say, “Bretz stood against a firm, highly restrictive dogma that never had made any sense: the emperor had been naked for a century. Charles Lyell, the godfather of geologic gradualism, had pulled a fast one in establishing the doctrine of interceptible change (Uniformitarianism).” Notice that he said ‘doctrine’! Evolution is a doctrine, not science. It is based on beliefs, which are fallible assumptions.
Here is another example. A statement said, “From 1924 to 1988, there was a sign above the entrance to Carlsbad Caverns that said Carlsbad was at least 260 million years old. In 1988, the sign was changed to read 7 to 10 million years old. Then the sign read that it was 2 million years old. Now the sign is gone.” Now read this carefully. The caverns are not getting younger from 1924 to 1988 they’re getting older, by about 60 years. So what’s happening? The cave is blowing the assumptions of the geologists. The geologists are watching the stalagmites and stalactites and are saying, “We’ve made some wrong assumptions about how long it takes these things to form.” And now they aren’t sure.
8. One Race vs. Different Species of Human
“And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living”
Genesis 3:20
Right now a few of you may ask yourselves what the term “races” means. “Races” means different species. So is there only one race or not? We have already established our biblical foundation so you should already have the answer in your mind. The answer is in Genesis chapter 2. Genesis Chapter 2 says that God created on man and one woman from that man. You see if God would have made man from dust and woman from something other than man. She would be of different blood and man and woman would be a different “species/race” all in itself. And if there were people before Adam and Eve we would be a different species of human. Evolution says that each color of human is at a different evolutionary stage. If we were a different species of human then we would not be related to Jesus Christ. If we aren’t related to Jesus, His blood would not be able to cover us because we would be a different species of human. This would mean that it would be impossible for us to receive the Holy Ghost because we receiving it would be no different than an animal receiving it. Only the Jews would be capable to receive this blessing.
One reason people tend to believe that there are different “races” is because of the incident at the Tower of Babel when God confused the languages (Gen. 11:1-9). The reason God split them up was not because they were different species of human. It’s because God had told them to replenish the earth (Gen. 9:1). Because they refused and tried to make themselves God (Gen. 11:4, 6). God was forced to split them up by confusing their languages. Just like the “kinds” I explain earlier there were only a handful of languages when God confused them. These languages changed over time through trade, mispronunciation, ect. This produced the different cultures that we have today. As the people split up they migrated to different places and developed customs and gods of their own, making their own diverse custom or traditions. Humanists themselves are beginning to admit themselves that differences between different people are cultural, not racial. In fact there is no more than a 0.2 percent difference between any two people. There’s no more than a 0.2 percent difference between two Americans and there is no more than a 0.2 percent difference between an American and an African.
You may now ask, “Well if this is true why are we all different colors?” Everyone has a substance in their skin called melanin. Melanin is what gives a person’s skin color. The more sunlight your skin receives, the more melanin your skin makes. This is how we get a tan. Your skin has made a more abundant supply of melanin. Now think about this for a moment, when a baby is born they are usually pretty pale. Over time their skin darkens because of their exposure to sunlight. But today an Americans lifetime averages only about 77 years. If Adam was out in the sun practically every day working in his field like God told him to (Gen. 3:17-19). It is logical that after 900 years of exposure to the sun, that he could have died black. You see we’re not all different colors. We’re simply different shades of the same color.
9. Conclusion
As you can see. Evolution is the source of all of the problems that we Christians face throughout our lives. If we build our foundation on Genesis 1-11 we can fight against all of these things at once. We need to stop looking at the Bible through the humanistic assumptions that the world drowns us in and start looking at the world through the Biblical truth that the Bible gives us.
