Camouflage - concealment by means of disguise; behavior; or artifice designed to deceive or hide. This is great for hunters or the military but not for Christians. "And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God." - Romans 12:2.
As a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ we are called to be salt and light. Salt is a preservative and adds flavor to whatever it is used on. Light casts away the darkness, after all, darkness is nothing but the absence of light. I believe that the problems we currently face are due to the church (believers) not being what we are called to be! Over all we are not salt and light. We have become the salt that is thrown out and is good for nothing.
We are blending in with the world. In many, if not most cases, the church is hard to distinguish from the world. We have "Christian" weight loss programs, weight rooms, dance classes and many other activities to keep us busy and our minds on ourselves, but we are neglecting the call of our Lord: "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost; teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you..." - Matthew 28:19-20a.
2 Corinthians 6:17 says, "Wherefore come out from among them (the world), and be ye separate , saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you." How many of us or our children are truly adhering to this command? We watch worldly TV shows and movies, listen to the world's music, and read the world's trash and then expect the Lord to receive us! How arrogant on our behalf!! We try so hard to not offend anyone that we end up blending right in with them (camouflaging ourselves if you will).
There are churches who refuse to preach on the blood, or the cross, or that Jesus is the ONLY way to Heaven, because they don't want to offend. CAMOUFLAGE!! Shame on them! Shame on us! The only way that anyone will come to truly know the Lord is if we preach the undiluted truth of the Gospel. We need not fear what man can do to us; they can only do what our Lord allows!
Jesus was not ashamed to leave His heavenly home and become one of His creation, suffer humiliation, and die a merciless death so that we could have life. So why is it that we can be so ashamed of Him that we are too scared to stand up for Him? Why do we camouflage ourselves?
This world is plummeting headlong into its darkest hour. We are living in the end times! What will it take to get us to take off our camouflage and stand up, out in the open, for all the world to see just how AWESOME our Savior is? I think that everything going on now should be enough of a reason.
Please don't take this the wrong way. I know that there are wonderful believers out there that this does not apply to, but it seems that the majority are camouflaged (trust me, I was one of them for a long time!). If this is you, don't take offense. Take it to the Lord and allow Him to change your heart. There is still hope. There are still people who are lost and in need of the Savior. The Lord can still use you (as a matter of fact, He still WANTS to use you).
Don't be camouflaged. Don't lose yourself in the world, as Jeff Deyo sings, "Saturate my life, fill every part of me with You. Drown me in Your love, let me LOSE MYSELF in YOU"!!!
To God be the glory!!!
Your Brother in Christ,
Larry
