I know that the recession is hitting everywhere in the U.S. How is it in your area? Maybe everyone can give updates on things like gas, food prices, etc. Today: Gas is $3.76 per gallon in Ohio Ethenol plants are being built around here........crops are going up in prices - good for farmers, but food prices are also going up for consumers. Otherwise, here in Ohio.........job market is hit really hard due to the auto industry, and forclosures of homes are really skyrocketing. Bad news, but God promises to meet every one of our needs.

Hello! Just today, on the yahoo news it was saying that gas would be $141 per barrel by the second half of the year, and also it was saying by 2010 gas is supposed to be about $200 per barrel. This is just insane. Regular here in Jarrell, Texas(about 38 miles north of Austin) is $3.79. It climbs about $0.5 every two days. Sometimes it pauses-but not often. I may as well not get a car-I won't be able to afford the gas!! My dad is a carpet cleaner and he gets to meet all sorts of interesting people. Anyhow, today he was cleaning I guy's house and he was a stock person(I think that's called a broker). Anyhow, the guy had about 8 computers with all these numbers and pie charts and such. My dad asked him what it was and he said that it was his future. My dad asked him what he meant. He said, "I have bought into oil stocks and within two years, gas should be going up to $10 a gallon. I'LL BE RICH!!" My dad asked when he thought gas would stop climbing and he said, "Oh, it won't. It'll just grow higher and higher." Hope this was some of the information you needed! God Bless!

I know where Jarrell is. I was living in San Antonio when the tornado ripped through your town in the late 90s. Is everything pretty much rebuilt? Sorry, I got off topic there.........but, I just had to asked, as I knew the situation there at the time. It was $3.99 here last night. When I left Texas in Dec. 1999, it was $.99 per gallon. What a huge difference!

The only way around this is for the governmental bodies to remove many of the taxes on gasoline and recoop it else where. I do not know where that else where is, but everytime the price goes up the tax goes up as well. ITs a no win for us.

It is a job for the politicians. I know people blame Pres. Bush...........but then again, people always blame the Pres. when things go wrong. We do need to heavily dig into our own oil reserves in spite of the environmentalist objections, while at the same time, look for alternative fuels. Ethonal is not the answer. But, we need to off of foreign supplies, especially those that are not friends of the U.S., or we will be in more wars like Iraq.

I wasn't living here when the tornado came, but from what I can tell everything is pretty much back to normal. The place where the tornado hit the most and killed almost all of the people is rebuilt. Many of the people who had a family member who died remodeled their houses and then left. There are about 3 storm shelters there now. I think those are the only ones besides a few private homes. Gas today is $3.82.

Yea.........it was a really, really, bad tornado.........and you know in Texas, there are hardly any basements because of the solid rock under about an inch or two of grass. By the time the storm hit San Antonio, it was still really bad that day, but, at least the tornado activity was done. That was a really sad day. Back to gas prices....I believe that I still saw $3.99 today.

I believe it, and probably on some days, the prices change several times.
