The Chinese people are really suffering w/the earthquakes.  What makes it even sadder is the One-Child policy that China has enforced w/an iron hand.  Now many of those children are gone.............and these parents put much into these children as the chance for their children to attend college is very, very competitive.......and the opportunity to get great careers later in life is also very competitive.

This is one aspect of the earthquakes.  Many critics have been saying that the Olympics shouldn't be held there.  What do you think?

I have a friend in China. Her dad is the person over this factory there...they just moved in December. Anyhow, she writes to my class regularly to tell us about it. She wrote us that she wasn't anywhere close to the earthquake, but people in her area could still feel the earthquake happening. She said that the Chinese government is very hush-hush about everything and want to do everything for themselves, but she thinks they'll actually ask for help now(if they haven't already.)
