One thing that I found out today, is that Obama wants to raise Capital gains taxes. The rich already pay about 80% of total taxes, and of course, this will affect them more. But, it will really affect the Middle Class, especially those who are trying to invest money in mutual funds and stocks, as it pays more than cds and savings accounts. We need less, not more taxes. Look at the tax stimulus checks. It is helping the economy short-term (probably in gas!)....but, I believe that these checks should come more often when the economy is the way that it is. Has anyone heard whether or not that McCain is possibly looking at the flat tax system? The Internal Revenue Code is hard enough to read, let alone more changes to it. We need to simplify the tax code, not make it more difficult.

John McCain on Tax Reform
Tax plan: $238B over 5 years; $500B over 10 years McCain’s tax cut plan is valued at $238 billion over five years; and $500 billion over 10 years. Its centerpiece is an expansion of the lowest income tax bracket, the 15% bracket, to cover higher incomes. Under the plan, the ceiling for the 15% bracket would rise to $70,000 from $43,050 for married couples filing jointly, and to $35,000 from $25,750 for single taxpayers. The effect is to give a $3,504 tax cut to a couple with taxable income of $70,000 or more. Source: New York Times, p. 22 Feb 27, 2000 Double child tax credit; add family incentives McCain’s tax plan would double the child tax credit to $1,000 a year, expand tax incentives for savings and investment, reduce the tax on large estates, and reduce the marriage penalty for some people increasing the standard deduction for couples. McCain would offset a portion of the tax cuts by closing corporate tax loopholes. One analysis shows most tax cuts would go to the middle class, those earning between $39,000 & $130,000. The plan would do almost nothing for taxpayers with incomes below $39,000. Source: New York Times, p. 22 Feb 27, 2000 “Balanced approach”, and starts a flat tax system McCain’s pitch is that his tax cut plan is modest enough in size that it leaves plenty of money from the surplus tax revenues to deal with other needs. By expanding the 15% bracket to cover millions of additional taxpayers, he says, his plan amounts to a start on creating a system of flatter tax rates. “I want a balanced approach,” McCain says. “I put a whole lot of money into Social Security, Medicaid, and paying down the debt [and less] money into tax cuts.”

Still don't know...........We don't need to put more pressure on the highest income brackets. The tax system should not tax corporations at all, as the shareholders are taxed twice. I am going to have to look at both sides of the issue more closely......but, it sounds as if McCain's may be the best.

This is from MSNBC.com about the rumors about Barack Obama speaking about Findlay, OH:
Digital rumor mill Here in Findlay, a Rust Belt town of 40,000, false rumors about Obama have built enough word-of-mouth credibility to harden into an alternative biography. Born on the Internet, the rumors now meander freely across the flatlands of northwest Ohio -- through bars and baseball fields, retirement homes and restaurants. Faced with polling that shows about one in 10 Americans thinks Obama is Muslim, the candidate's campaign has launched an aggressive effort to discredit rumors and clarify Obama's past. It created a "Fight the Smears" Web site and a new television ad that reiterates Obama's Christian faith, patriotism and family background. Dozens of volunteers have been sent to Ohio five months in advance of the election so they can spend extra time educating voters.
Much of this is thought to come from the Clinton campaign, so that she would gain more voters. If you look through Barak's history, he was born of a Nigerian father, and a white mother. His father left when he was 2 years old, and was never raised by him. We have to be careful as to what is rumors and what is actually true. No one is perfect, and I also believe that McCain is not perfect. But, sometimes, he must weed through what is true and what is not about a candidate.

probably very factual. I asked an Elder Black man What he thought of the race, said not decided, it will depend on both parties vice presidents. I really think a lot of people is waiting to commit for that reason.
He also said that he doubted either man if elected would serve the whole term, asking why he said McCain would die in office, Obama would be assasinated. His thought on assasination was Obama either plays the money mens game or lose.
