I was wondering while driving to work last week just why do people go to church.  I would be interested in what kinds of responses I would get. 

So here Goes.  Why do you attend Church?  And what is the reason you got to the denomination you attend?

1- I do not find myself to be a denomination as I did not come out of anything.  I find myself to be a member of the Church that began on the day of Pentecost.

2- I go to Church to spend time with my family.  To learn from them, and to teach them.  TO gather encouragement and to offer encouragement.  The Bible teaches us that where two or three are gathered.  THe Bible also teaches that in the witness of two or three let all things be established.  The Bible teaches us that one can put 100 to flight and two 1000 to flight.  Whats this tell me?  There is power in numbers. We need to edify one another and testify of his greatness.

I do not go to Church because I have to but because I want to.  I look forward to Church services as I get to see those I am enlisted into the Army of God with.  We get to share battle stories and lift one another up.

3- I am in "The Church" because God gave me a revelation of who he is, and who I am and how to get to him.  So I chose a Church that teaches those things.  A Fulness of Truth.

"I Choose to be a Christian, I choose to live like him, nobodys making be do it, this is how I choose to live.  Now you can choose for you and I can choose for me, the choice is mine this is what I choose to be."

I go to church to worship my king corpperetly because that is what I was save to do.  Worship God

I don't go to church t draw strength for my strength comes from God.  God meets me every day wherever I am.

If  I worship God, with God in my life I will be a light set on a hill every where I go!  I will be salt that has not lost its savor.  I will be a witness for Jesus.  I you have to say anything to the world to let them know you are a christian there is something wrong. 

My point is that in edifying the body of Christ, we are worshipping him. If we are loving one another, we are worshipping the Lord as we are obedient to His Word.

Half the problem with the Church is that they think they do not need one another to make it.  We do.  If it were not so he would have told us as well. He would not have said that the eye can not say unto the hand I have no need of thee.  We need one another. 

If we did not need to lift one another up he would not have said to love thy neighbor as they self. 

There is a need for the Church to lift one another up.  We are not an island of our own.

We need one another.  Most of all we need Jesus in our lives secondly we need a body of believers to help us along the way.

I also made the speculation that praise and worship were a given.  My failure there to state rather than speculate.

So is it just about the church or body of Christ?  Or is it about a realationship with God?  Which is first, your personal relationship or the church body you attend?  Is church all just about salvation and getting others to beleive like you? Or is it something greater?

I go to church for many reasons as listed above but one thing that strikes me is I go because

 Matthew 18:20  For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

This would be the top reason why i go to church ....to be in His presence because one day I will be in heaven and here on earth is just a little mini micro drop of his power and presence. And you think of your strongest most powerful earth shaking  experience with the presence of the Lord in your life and it will not compare to being in His presence for all eternity. We simply can not asorb His full presence in these earthly mortal bodies.

2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

2Co 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

2Co 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

2Co 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

So what does it mean that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself?   What is the differance between salvation, and being reconciled to God?

You don't think we can absorb the full presance of God in these mortal bodies?  Maybe not but we can absorb much more than we give them credit for.   

i agree with The_Cavinator and i would have to say that my reasons are NOT far from his if not the exact same.

I go to church to worship the lord with other believers that have Christ living inside them as well. Church is there so you can get together with other Christians and grow in God, Where the sprit of the lord is there is liberty. Thats true but in most Church's today there is no liberty, because the sprit of the lord is not there, its not that it doesnt want to be there but its not allowed, we will pray saying lord come by in this service, but in our life we dont allow him to do anything by the way we live. In the Church world today we have alot of samson's, alot of religious people, but they dont even know that the sprit of God has left them, they get caught up in the religious process of being a Christian, i come come to tell you that religious people go to Hell. We get caught up in doing the new things, and do what we think is right in our own eye's. We get rid of the old ways, the reason why people get rid of the old ways is because they never experienced what God did in the old ways! Going to Church is good, but its just like going to the bar if your Church is dead. A Church is alive when the holy Ghost has free course in lives, when Jesus is really there lord and savior!
