Ok, so I didn't post this to get arguments started, so maybe I shouldn't of posted it at all. I'm sorry everyone!

Oh, don't say that. Debates can be fun, as long as they don't turn into flaming  (which I doubt on PZ...)

I wasn't saying they have to go somewhere else, I just don't think they should be able to tell us to hide our religion, which some of them do, what I was saying was if they don't like the way we do things, they don't have to stay here, and there are some that are offended by prayer.  I wouldn't mind the least bit of someone wanted to say a Muslim prayer; it would not affect me at all.  I'm not trying to force anybody to be a Christian.

Now, there's a difference between trying to hide your religion and being respectful of others' beliefs. Because, even though it seems that you don't want to force people into being Christian, school prayers and such do that. If a student wants to pray every day, they can do that before or after school, where others who don't pray in the morning won't feel uncomfortable by it. Because, I know that if my Christian friend prayed at school each morning when I was standing with her, I would feel a bit uncomfortable...

I still can't make the quote thing work like I want it to.  Anyway suppose she believes in praying before she eats, you would expect her not to pray if you were sitting next to her in the cafeteria?

There was a preacher who went to a hospital to pray for somebody, and this was where there were two patients in one room, and when he said "In the name of Jesus," the other patient in the room screamed.  She did not want to hear the name of Jesus.

This is actual fact.  I did not make it up.

Well, for me, I was talking more along the lines of not knowing what I should be doing while she's praying, but as for your story, well, that's just more proof that there are a lot of different opinions on praying out there, and just another reason that people who pray should be considerate of those who don't, or who might be scared of it for whatever reason.

If you don't know what to do when someone is praying, you can just stand or sit there silently, you don't even have to bow your head if you don't want to.  Maybe you can just meditate on whatever you mediate on.

Go back and read the last sentence of my first post above.

Your last sentence of your first post said that teachers should not tell you how to pray.  I said that they should not lead prayer whatsoever in any way.

If she would like to pray before she eats, she is allowed.  THere is nothing saying that she cannot.

I used to go to a summer camp. It was not a religious camp in any way, although it had buses that went to a synagogue on Friday nights and a church on Sunday mornings, if you wanted to go.

But, before every single meal, one of the senior staff (important counselors) would say, "Please stand for a moment of silence," and everyone would stand, and if you wanted to pray, you could, although I don't know anyone who did. Most people continued what they were doing beforehand, whether it was writing or playing cards, just standing up and silent...

I just think that's is the most respectful to everyone to keep prayer out of public places where it's possible that it would be forced upon everyone, regardless of beliefs or religion, such as school. Would you enforce a daily prayer in a non-religious and diverse place such as a work environment?

No, I wouldn't enforce a prayer, but I would allow for it if anybody wanted to pray, or meditate, or whatever they do.

I wouldn't object to a teacher praying as long as she didn't expect me to pray her prayer.

This country was founded for religious freedom.  Why then are we writting laws confining religion?
