I do not believe this is going to end the war.  I also believe there will be an increase in violence, bu tonly for a short time, I would say a week or less.  Then things will continue the current level of violence.

The war is truly over, they are now trying to just gain a balance.  We have won the war, now we have to teach them that there is no longer a war, that democracy encourages diffrences and how to deal with them.  Once that is complete then we will be able to bring our men and women home.

I was suprised this morning when I got my paper to read that Saddam had already been executed.  They did not waste any time (like we do in America).  As far as more violence, is there any way to keep those people from not acting out on things in the manner that they do?  Things have to get worse before they can get better, I just hope the worst has happened.

thanks for the post i too, hope the worse has already happen, i still have family there, and friends.

While I agree that Saddam needed to be taken care of, I do wish that our attention wouldn't have been so diverted from finding Bin Laden.

While Saddam was a threat all those years, it was Bin Laden who was the master mind behind Sept. 11th. I'm afraid we are going to pull out of Iraq and come home, but leave Bin Laden alive and well running around the mountains to think of more attacks.

Should have never taken our attention away from him. Saddam needed to be dealt with, but there is no reason that he couldn't have been dealt with after we found Bin Laden, or at the same time. Kind of seems like Bush Jr. was taking care of something that his Dad couldn't complete. Sad thing is, now someone is going to have to come in behind him and take care of something he couldn't complete.

I think our next step should be to get out of Iraq as quickly as we can, and concentrate on Bin Laden again. I just have a hard time believing that the government has NO CLUE where he is at... No way they can find someone that has hopped from country to country on tax fraud charges or any other crime, and they find him/her, but someone who is 6'5" and staying between the mountainous border region of 2 countries, yet they can't find him.... Just start bombing the mountains...

Sooner or later the Iraqi people are going to have to decide what type of country they want, our presence there isn't going to keep them from civil war. Almost every country that is a democracy has been thru a civil war, including America. As sad as war is, sometimes it seems like it is inevitable.

Sure would make for a great feather to put in the Republicans cap before elections in 2008... Bush would somewhat be redeemed for the whole war, and Republicans wouldn't be looked at as the majority of the "problem" Just in time for a Republican push for the White House.

If he isn't caught before the next election, I highly doubt he will be caught unless he brings himself out into the open again.

Wonder what would happned if we pulled ALL our troops out of foreign soil and brought them home, spent the money at home, and protected our soil.  Lots of money could be diverted form those efforts to defense methods, and devices that would be more than sufficient.

Just a thought, though I know there are much greater risks to coming home.  Bin Laden has been handicapped severly.  His ability is much less than before 911.  We can NEVER end the terrorists.  We just need to prepare for and reduce the risk of great events and deal with small ones.
