I have a question. What do you think a person must believe to be apostolic?

Do you think they must believe that Repenting, being baptized in Jesus name and receiving the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues as being NECESSARY for salvation inorder to be considered apostolic?

OR

Do you think that as long as someone believes in Repenting, being baptized in Jesus name and receiving the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues yet don't think that all 3 are necessary for salvation is still a apostolic believer?

Because, believe it or not, there are those out there which practice all 3 steps yet teach that people are saved when they put faith in Jesus and that baptizm and receiving the Holy Ghost are not necessary for someone to be saved.

I will go ahead and give my opinion. I believe it is what is backed up in scripture. That until someone Repents, gets baptized in Jesus name, and receives the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues they are not saved. I may be in the minority, but I don't think I am.

What say ye?

I think to be truly Apostolic, we have to repent, be baptized in Jesus name, get the Holy Ghost, speaking in tongues, but that is only the start. Being truly Apostolic, like the apostles, is being the hands and feet of Christ. Reaching the lost, loving the sinner. Jesus ate with publicans and sinners, even though the religous people of His day looked down on Him for it.

If we sit in our little "comfort zone" and forget about our job, the great commission(Matt. 28:19) then how can we call ourselves Apostolic? On the day of Pentecost the church grew by 3,120 souls. And God added to the church DAILY after that.

Being Apostolic is so much more than long skirts and hair on our ladies. It's more than short hair and suits on us men. It's a condition of the heart. We have to love the lost around us and reach out to them as Christ did.

Mt 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Here it tells me that if I don't bring forth fruit (new souls) I will be cast into the fire! Jesus is letting us know what He expects from us and what the consequences are if we don't.

Mt 21:19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.  WOW!!! Are we any better than an unfruitful tree? I think not! How can we call ourselves Apostolic if we do nothing they did? If we don't have miracles? If we don't have healings? See people delivered?

That is what being Apostolic means to me. AWESOME post, Bro!!!

God bless you all!

De Ja Vou    ROFLOL

I don't know how to spell it..lol

OK, seriously.  I heard someone else say it first but I agree.  I think being apostolic means you live like the apostles.  I don't mean culturally, I mean in character.  Constantly ministering or deepening oneself in the Spirit.  I have met few real apostolics with that definition.

If you mean, what does the label signify?  Well, keep in mind there is more than one apostolic org.  I was raised in PAW so a bunch of white people with long hair does NOT fit my idea at all.  Such ignorance only would.  I think the label represents modesty and spritual happenings, speaking in tongues and miracles.  Once again, fewer than expected meet this definition either.

Apostolic is our Doctrine,  It is the doctrine taught to the disciples by Jesus Christ.  It is the Doctrine the Apostles (Hence the name Apostolic) took to teach the world as they were taught by Jesus.

Disciple means student, Apostle means teacher.  So being under Apostolic Doctrine means, Repentance, Batpism in Jesus Name, and infilling of the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in tongues.  the Apostles went out and into all nations spreading the GOOD NEWS(Gospel) and teaching those the Doctrine as they responded to the Good News.

P.A.W., U.P.C, A.L.J.C., A.M.A, A.W.C.F, there is a greater list here http://www.apostolic-churches.com/organizations.html but really who cares. The organizations are supposed to be about fellowship and unity.  Not about changing doctrine.  Not about adding or taking away.

Being Apostolic is a lifestyle. No, its a way of life.  You either are or you are not.  There is no middle ground.  You either are living the life or you are not. The middle ground is a place of transition, a calling place, a time ans place that God has brought you to. He asks you whose side are you on.

Praise the Lord for giving me a fullness of truth.  Thank God for giving me the willingness to surrender my thoughts for his. Thank the Lord surrender unto his Word and not my definition or concept of his Word.

God is never changing, ever loving, and ever persent.  Thank you Lord.

We shouldn't strive to be apostolic...

Because being "Apostolic" doesn't mean "one who follows God in every aspect of thier life"... It can mean that for some yes, but it doesn't actually mean that...

It does actually mean that to some just as you stated.
