I am kinda torn between what to do. Its time for us to get class rings and I don't know if I should get one or not. I don't believe in wearing jewlery (other than a wedding ring) but I kinda feel like a class ring would show what I have done. (I;m the only one in my family so far that has gotten to the 11th grade.) I just need a little advice on if i should get one or not.... Please and thank you. :)

I no longer belong to an Apostolic church, so my word probably won't count very much, but I was in the same position when I was offered the opportunity to buy one. I, personally, bought one and I actually did wear it around. However, some of my other Pentecostal friends did not, so it's pretty much up for grabs. To be honest, buying a little class ring isn't going to hurt anything. Even if you did wear it, you wouldn't be wearing it to show off how much 'gold or silver' you possess, you would be wearing it to show off your accomplishments. Especially considering you're the only one in your family that has gotten that far. I'd go for it!

I know that I'll get pounded about this, but, my daughter is getting a class ring. This is showing her accomplishments, and is modest.
The Bible speaks about modesty. Each of us have to know what is modest and what isn't.
I had a pastor a while back who had saints in his church bickering about wearing wedding bands, watches, sleeve lengths, etc. (What major issues???? Let's keep the Main Thing........The Main Thing!). And he said that if he goes to the mall, and our women look Apostolic, and our men look Apostolic, then he is satisfied. The devil would like nothing more than to have us fight among our selves about every little dot and tittle, instead of going out and reaching souls.
I am not speaking about loss of standards............but, come on! Some things are convictions..............and man made standards.

There is not anything wrong with a class ring. It is not for any immoral purpose or motive. So, unless your pastor has an objection, I say wear it proudly. It represents 12 years of hard work!

Although I realize I am disagreeing with everyone on this forum, I thought I would just let y'all know my standpoint, if that's okay. :) I am also an 11th grader, and just recently we had the people come to take orders and everything. I didn't get one. Please believe me--I don't think they're necessarily sinful! And I totally respect y'alls decision to get yourself and your children one. Just for me, it's not happening. Class rings can be as showy as you like or as "modest", and they do show your achievements. However I feel I do not need a ring to show my achievements. HOPEFULLY(haha) in the manner of my speech and conduct of my character I will be able to prove this. It's all a part of being an ambassador for Christ. Do I need to carry a Bible around with me all day to show that I am knowledgable about the Word of God? Anyhow, that's just my standpoint. I don't mean to be argumentive or anything. Just throwing stuff out there. Raquel

I personally believe that if you believe in a standard, such as not wearing jewelry, you should hold to that standard and not let it slip. when you let it slip even for a "small matter" you are compromising something. it may not seem like much but that just makes it easier to slip on the next issue until you're far from where you started.

Agree. :) It's like the song says... "It's a SLOW FADE when you give yourself away..."

i got one, but i don't wear it. (its too small) but i was wonderin, if i put it on like a string or badge cord, (not a necklace or anything) if it would be the same as wearing it... It sounds dumb but i really don't know if its the same.

I have some jewelry from my grandma that she left me when she passed away. Of course, I don't wear it, but I do own it. I keep it for sentimental value, as a way to remember my grandmother. If you're not wearing it, and just owning it, I would think your ring is much the same way. :) Raquel

You know what? out of all of the other topics that people have made ridiculous statements and opinions, this one disgusts me the most. You are taking the Bible and twisting what it says.. that's false doctrine..
