we actually had a deaf guy come when we did this one time and i didnt know he was deaf till after that service when he came up to talk to me...i only partially understood what he said and i felt bad about it.
I think it is wonderful that you are willing to be used in the area of sign language. I am taking a sign language class right now. When I told my teacher I did sign language at church and that sometimes we have deaf people, he was really interested. I was able to witness to him through this. I know, one day...soon...you, as well as your fellow signers, will be witnesses to the deaf as well.
we actually had to change part of this song...the o's becuz our pastor didnt want us to do it the way on the dvd...its not that we dont want to branch out and do different things its just that some things we cant do...and after we did our silent praise that nite after the preacher was thru preachin he called us back up there and told the whole congregation that we are the kind of ppl he wants to pray for him when he needs it...
we really are trying to let the spirit flow with us...but like i said b4 its only our second time gettin up there...we hardly have ne experience...it will have to come with time...but i can almost guarantee the next song will be very emotional...
Also, doing the body language is not looking foolish- well, not if it is true. The facial expressions will only show your love of the King and of signing if they come from your heart-you won't look foolish!! I promise you!
(Unless everyone has been secretly making fun of me!)
Our church has a dramatic sign language praise team- i'm on it. We sing along, we go big, sometimes I even start speaking in tongues-but God always seems to move my hands for me! Every year (for the past 2 years) we have had Sis. Lisa Davis come to our church to show us some new songs and such. We know A LOT of signs, but we like to get her to come anyway. I know we have a sign language performance filmed from our first church service in our new building, I'll see if I can get it and put it on here. That would be cool.

P.S. Pentegurl, you know the song and the signs you were taught well- all of you do- but really you need to let the spirit just flow with you. Let him take control of it and your work will be blessed!
im sry about ur parents but were not gonna get up there and make fools of ourselves by doin body language...were doin sign language and there is a difference. not to mention that was only our 2nd time gettin up there so cut us some slack...thank you. have a good day and God bless you!
I have hearing impared parents I know what emotion from them looks like. When you sign you sign with the spirit in you! You sing the song with your mouth even if you can't talk. If you are happy show you are happy if you are sad show you are sad if you are filled with the Holy Spirit Show it even when you are on the sign team! The Joy the hearing impare folks will feel will show through your Body Language.
